When should travelers travel to Ban Gioc Waterfall ?

About 365km from Hanoi in Cao Bang province (northeast of Vietnam), Ban Gioc is the most beautiful waterfall in Vietnam that is worth seeing once in a lifetime.

The waterfall broke a lot of records not only in Vietnam but in the whole world. It is the largest waterfall in Asia and the fourth largest waterfall along a national border in the world, with over 200 meters (656 f.) wide and a drop of more than 70 meters (229 ft.). It is separated into three falls by rocks and trees, and the thundering effect of the water hitting the cliffs can be heard kilometers away from Trung Khanh.

Opposite to the falls, the river is calm, peaceful, clear as a mirror and painted by rice paddy fields that is beyond imagination and when standing in front of, looking at the falls, it is like looking into a watercolor painting. The beauty is just unreal !

The beauty of Ban Gioc Waterfall is divided in two seasons: rainy season and dry season. Ban Gioc has different beauties in different seasons. In dry season (from October to May), the water is drop slowly and the fall is very gentle and peaceful. During rainy season (from June to September), the waters become strong and fierce, so that you can enjoy the imposing and impressive scenery of the fall. Moreover, the yellow rice field on May and buckwheat blossoms in spring are ideal time for you to visit Ban Gioc.

 It is more convenient in dry season, it doesn’t rain much but you need to bring thick clothes because it will be very cold. However, with some people, the best time to travel to Cao Bang is from August to September when Ban Gioc waterfall  is filled with blue color of water and from November to December when buckwheat flower and wild sunflower blossom.
